Parent Infomation

Acorn room (3 months - 2 years)

Our aim is provide care in a calm, relaxed environment ensuring a smooth transition from home to nursery. Each child's personal routine is followed by a key person working in close partnership with the child's parent/carers. Activities are provided to stimulate a child's developing curiosity and to meet their fast changing emotional and physical needs as they progress.

Staff

We are extremely proud of our committed, caring, enthusiastic and fun staff teams and know that they are our key to providing children with the high level of encouragement and support that they deserve. Our practitioners are  well supported and are offered regular training, development and career progression.

Education

At Wyvern we believe that children learn best through their play. A child will also gain the most from activities that relate to their current interests. By being child-led in our focus, we ensure that we are providing activities that will engage the children and therefore give them the best opportunities to learn and develop.

We plan our activities with reference to the latest government curriculum documents, providing a firm foundation that will prepare children for the more formal environment of school.

Littleoaks room (2 years - 5 years)

As children move to the Pre School room we continue to provide as much support as they need to continue building their independence. All equipment is at child height to promote choice and independence.

The High Scope apporach encourages and supports children to make choices about what they do (plan - do -  review) and allows them to learn through play.

The children have access through out their day to make believe and construction areas, messy and mark making activities, ICT facilities and to the outdoor area.

Food

We provide meals, snacks and drinks for your child during their day at Wyvern. Our menu is varied and nutritious. We pride ourselves on offering good food for the children. Lunch is always a hot main course followed by fruit or yoghurt. Tea is a lighter meal. For our babies,  we can help with the weaning process and puree / blend food appropriate for their needs. We can adapt our menus for children with allergies or other dietary needs.  In the baby room, drinks are offered regularly. Children in the main room can access a drink of water throughout the day.
